What a load of fucking scumbags the higher ups at the Post Office are.

I mean if more than 50 sub postmasters say there's something wrong with the system, you'd take a deep look at it wouldn't you?

At least Nijinsky has handed her CBE back then.

Does this really shock anyone. High management covering their own arse's at any price.?

Saw the Panorama thing last night and was surprised it seemed to go under the radar when it first came out in 2020. It's a disgrace, should be jail time for a lot of those who covered it all up.

It'll be interesting to see how much the PO knew about the helpline complaints - Fujitsu seem to be avoiding a lot of the heat at the moment.

Fujitsu possibly have a legal immunity clause in their contract, which would only be anulled if fraud (on their part) is proven.

Re: This Post Office / Horizon thing
They might like to look at the awarding of the contract to Fujitsu and why they were allowed to continue when it was clear the model was flawed.
Plenty of brown envelopes and noses in the trough me thinks.

Maybe - knowing a tiny bit (and only a tiny bit) about the odd NHS contract of this type, I'd be surprised. Been involved with a couple of patient systems (BT being one company that created one) and they 100% were on the hook for problems. I don't see why Fujitsu would be different - the contract just wouldn't be allowed in the NHS otherwise.

I think its different when a software company creates a product to a spec for a client that the client wrote. They normally insist on immunity if the spec or scope was wrong.

We say Fujitsu, but its the old ICL business that Fujitsu bought and took over mainly for a few products but mainly for their client base (central govt etc)

I've been following this for a while. An utter disgrace, and several governments have decided to ignore it.

Horse face needs to be prosecuted, being the CEO, for corporate manslaughter.

The bitch was short listed for the third highest job in the Church. She's a disgrace to her belief.

And that cunt in the box yesterday, perjured himself, by denying that he told someone that they 'were the only one'.

Corruption at its worst.

It's not just covering their own arses, many in higher management haven't got a fucking clue what they're managing and simply delegate responsibility down the chain of command until it hits the mail room, from where it has nowhere to go. They would greatly benefit from at least 6 months at "the coal face".

I've been involved in contract negotiations with several people at that level and when I've tried to get a list of requirements from them - what they actually want the IT system they're buying to "support" their business - they come back with shit like "You're the fucking expert, you tell us", then flounce off in "an authoritative manner".

On more than one occasion, a CEO bought a multi-million dollar IT system following a single presentation at a trade fair - probably to prove to his peers there that he was all dynamic, forward-thinking and knew his shit.

When he announced his decision upon his return, all 8 contractors hired to codify the requirements of said system said stuff along the lines of "Fucking good luck with that one, boy!". Three left the same day and the rest followed within a week.

Oh, and Fujitsu supply and manage about half the IT systems upon which the UK government relies, so they ain't not never going to be held to account.

These people should all be in prison for decades yet they're given MBEs and the ones who aren't just get shuffled off to other higher management positions and all retire as multimillionaires.

If these sorts of stories were told about countries in Africa or Eastern Europe we'd all be scoffing at how corrupt they are and how that sort of thing could never happen here.

Clown country

Re: This Post Office / Horizon thing
I used to work in a post office in south London before there was any kind of computerisation. We longed for a system like this. We used to balance our tills weekly using a paper balance sheet and a pencil. If there was a problem, and I was shit at balancing, they would send someone to audit the till manually. Their whole business is simple transactions. So I don't get why they risked the reputation of the organisation by trusting an obviously flawed system when they could check the numbers manually when things didn't add up. All I can think is that there was backhanders at risk if the system was scrapped.

Kaiser Zoso 10:28 Fri Jan 12
Re: This Post Office / Horizon thing
There’s a recognised process for building a new computer system and going live, and the PO and Fujitsu have willfully swerved all of it.

A system of that size and significance to operations would need to be proven and signed off in parallel to any existing system prior to going live. There is usually a User forum for system issues after implementation.

None of that seems to have happened. The comments about the policy of telling users they were the only ones with a problem suggests everyone responsible knew and were complicit in a cover up.

As for that scouse prick yesterday — what was he investigating if he drew a blank at any system issues?

Seems the government is being run by ITV & have finally been kicked into action

How do you work out compensation for people who were jailed & lost their marriages, houses and livelihood. Let alone those that killed themselves

Re: This Post Office / Horizon thing
It's fucking madness.

50 odd sub masters working at the Post offices all saying that the system is at fault. I mean, fuck me, did some big-wig at the PO genuinely think that there was a sudden wave of sub masters stealing money from the PO? And alot of these people were retired local people, single mums, nans, even Parish Cllrs. The Po suddenly think that all these people turn into thieves overnight?

Surely anyone with half a brain would go "Hold on. It never happened when they audited manually. We've put in a new computerised system and its all started." At that point you'd go in and do the proper investigation of the system.

And why were all of these cases being dealt with individually? This was a very clear and obvious one big problem.

People have committed suicide. Lost their homes. Livelihoods. Lost their dignity and respect. Been pushed out of towns and villages they lived in for years. Banished as thieves.

Head should roll. people deserve jail time. That cunt gave back her CBE. She should be banged up. And all the cunts below her that pushed for money to be repaid and to convict people who didn't.

Re: This Post Office / Horizon thing
Simply crucifying Vennells would completely miss the point about what had been going on between Fujitsu and the PO prior to her turning up. For years the Horizon system had been knowingly at fault and both parties had been covering it up. The PO top brass by admitting to nothing and Fujitsu by basically running a, keep the Horizon shortcomings secret, section from their basement.

At the end of the day though this is not about a computer system that had major faults, rather it’s about how people hid this to the cost of the lives of hundreds of others.

At the top of the conspiracy we have a willfully uninformed CEO and at the bottom we have a thuggish, bonus incentivised, debt collector.

Russ of the BML 12:03 Fri Jan 12

Exactly, I mean if anomalies start showing up after installation of a new system you would think red flag wouldn't you before going out and crucifying innocent people!

The Panorama thing suggested that when tested Horizon performed around 7th in the table with other companies that were vying from the contract but the PO chose Horizon because it was the cheapest, you get what you pay for!!

Whilst Vennell's is clearly a nasty piece of work there are plenty more people such as Tim Parker, Adam Crozier, Sir Ed Davey and others who are at the centre of this and bonuses paid out of the public purse should be paid back by such individuals and surely there should be a jail cell waiting for some.

Having dealings with those cunts at Fujitsu most of my adult working life at my old job I can concur that nothing they showed shocked me in the slightest.... absolute vermin... for years we done all our IT in house... for years never a problem... then Fujitsu get the gig to take over... and the rest is rip off history... paid for by the tax payer.

The calibre of leadership in this country is pants. I don't trust the system. We have more Lords in the upper house than there are MEPs representing 27 countries. We are a fucking laughing stock because we vote for this over and over and over again. Thames Water, Grenfell, infected blood, Covid corruption and Enquiry. We are a joke!

Mike Oxsaw 8:48 Fri Jan 12
Re: This Post Office / Horizon thing
I'm reading now that even Tony Blair was aware that Horizon was fucked/unreliable but decided to continue with the project because the then current government were already balls-deep into Fujitsu and couldn't pull out.

No wonder no political battles are being raised over this - they all knew and kept quiet.
